Meet Simon Ginet, CMPC

Education & Academics

I received my Master’s Degree from Boston University’s Wheelock School of Education with a concentration in Counseling/Sport Psychology in May 2021.

While in graduate school I trained in both mental performance coaching and clinical psychology, working with student-athletes at Tufts University, Lesley University and Arlington High School, and with clients at a local group home.

In addition to counseling, I have coached soccer with the Arlington High School Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and Valeo Futbol Club.

I graduated from Carleton College with a BA in Sociology/Anthropology  in 2014. My senior thesis centered on the relationship between thinking, movement and breath and was based on fieldwork conducted at a yoga ashram.

I have been a student of yoga for over a decade, and have two 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certifications, one from Heartwork Yoga in Northfield, MN and one from Wonder Yoga in Arlington, MA.

I’ve found the yogic work of stilling the mind plays an important role in my outlook on psychology.

Athletics

My athletic experience is comprised of over two decades of competitive soccer. I played for the FC Greater Boston Bolts, was a four-year Varsity player and senior captain at Arlington High School, and was a senior captain at Carleton College. At Carleton, I was a MIAC All-Conference selection in 2012, as well as a selection for the CoSIDA Academic All-District, CoSIDA 1st-Team Academic All-America, and NSCAA Men’s Scholar All North/Central Region teams. In 2013 I won the MIAC Men’s Soccer Elite 22 award, awarded to one player in the league for excellence on the field and in the classroom. I have played soccer semi-professionally for the Greater Lowell Rough Diamonds in the National Premier Soccer League and Worcester Warriors in the United Premier Soccer League.

music & performance

As a performing artist, I have been a singer and guitarist in two bands and an a cappella group, performing covers and original compositions. I’ve also dipped my toes into performance poetry. I got my theatrical start on stage with Arlington Children’s Theater as an elementary schooler, and went on to perform musicals with Arlington High School’s Gilbert and Sullivan club as well as playing leading roles in theatrical productions of The Fantasticks, The Lover, How I Learned to Drive and Machinal while at Carleton College. Today I still cultivate my love of artistic performance, and continue to compose original songs and perform live when I get the chance.

In my consulting work, I combine my passion for excellence in performance with empathy and compassion.

I am dedicated to helping my clients perform at their peaks, with increased competence and joy.
